GHETTO JUICE GIVES NIKE THE GREENLIGHT!! As the Nike Pro is picking up steam at Lowers, let us be the first to tell you that everything is going to be all right. Nike’s cool. So don’t trip. Nike is not here to bum your day! They are raising the awareness of top level surfing and setting a new standard in terms of what professional surfing is all about. It’s something the sport of surfing has been missing, well, since like forever, and now, well, we’ve all got open arms because we can literally smell the potential…. We can start by saying how epic it is to see the Goodyear Blimp hanging out at the comp…. you know you’re legit when you’ve got the Blimp! We also gotta say thanks to Nike, thanks to Bob Hurley for letting them in this tight knit circle that is the surf industry… at the time, no one really knew what would happen… but as we see Nike’s vision for surfing unfold before our very eyes it not only excites us but amps us out for what’s next…. See, with Nike on board, surfing can only get gnarlier and gnarlier and gnarlier…. and there’s nothing wrong with that since surfing lost its Soul in the 70s to begin with. It’s time to take this sport of ours to the next level, and the only ones so far who are going to help us get there are Nike … and good on them! At the end of the day, here’s how we see it… While Volcom ensures we keep having fun, and Quik is at the helm of the ship, and Vans is saving the sport of surfing… well, Nike is doing its part too… it’s just too early to tell how big of an impact it’s really going to be.
